A Thanksgiving Season–A Lagniappe Life!

Over the river and through the woods… like many across our land we too will travel for this holiday. I am thankful for the ability to travel and the ability to do it cheaper than we have in a quite awhile.

More importantly, I am thankful for my wife and four boys–Conner and Casey are pictured above.

I am thankful for my church family and the God who makes it all possible.

I am thankful for my friends and the relationships we have had that now span in some cases over half of our lives.

i am thankful for my co-workers in the faith–the elders I serve with while preaching here at Orange Grove.

Everything else is lagniappe. Everything.

I am so truly blessed. How about you?

Yes, this is a zip code. It happens to be the zip code of our building. It is the zip code that the majority of us use.

Yes, it is a zip code. But it is so much more.

What else could this simple number be?

It is a mission field.
• It describes a geographic area that has its own set of challenges—
• It describes a people who live laugh love celebrate hurt and cry—these people are husbands, wives, children, brothers, sisters, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, stepfamilies, friends, co-workers, bosses, employees, and; well, you get the picture.

More than a mission field, it is an opportunity.
• It is an opportunity to win souls for Jesus.
• It is an opportunity for transforming our community.

Maybe you noticed the “+” sign at the end of the zip code and wondered at the significance? The “+” simply means that 39503 is a springboard for the rest of our county, state, country, and world.

Where will you go next?

39503+ is a mission field and an opportunity to win our wider culture.

Amazingly enough it is also a mission field and opportunity for fundamental and radical change that resides in each of us alone.
• It is an opportunity to change your perception about yourself, your value, and your ability to work within the Kingdom of God.
• It is an opportunity to change your relationships.
• It is an opportunity to change your family.
• It is an opportunity to change your friends.
• It is an opportunity to change your world.

I love these words.

Powerful words.

Words of full of purpose and promise.

The right to life.

The framers of our nation understood.
